Keep Win XP uninstall Win ME

No more Dual Boot!
Keep Win XP uninstall Win ME

This example descries uninstalling ME from a Win XP/ME
Dual Boot system with Xp installed on a separate hard drive.
Now XP is on drive (D:) and ME on EXIT (C:)
I’m not sure if this is the proper way of doing things but it worked for me.
Even so XP is on drive (D:) XP will install the Boot.INI file on drive (C:)
So don’t reformat drive (C:)
Here we go.
1.Check exit (C:) for errors as described above. Fix disk errors.
2.Convert drive (C:) to NTFS since it is the better file system
and you uninstall ME anyhow. See convert to NTFS.
3. Chance your Boot.INI file.
This is the tricky part.
Click Control Panel, switch to classic View, click on System, under System Properties
Click the Advanced tab; under Startup and Recovery click Settings, under System Startup
Click Edit and there is your boot loader file.
4.Coppy the Boot.INI file to your Win XP document folder incase something is going wrong. Rename the file with a different name like boot file and save it.
Here is an example of my Boot.INI file before chancing. (With dual boot intact.)
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
C:\="Cancel Windows XP Setup"
5. Chance time out =5
And delete the line C:\="Cancel Windows XP Setup"
Your boot file shut look something like this.
[boot loader]
timeout=5
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
Click Save and your done.
Restart your Computer and see if it still will boot.
If not you need a win 9x Startup disc and chance the boot file until it will Good Luck.
6. Delete the win ME folder and everything you don’t need on your (C:) drive.
Note: if your Boot file is looking totally different don’t use my example it worked for me
but I will not be responsible for your machine not booting
